Declaration of FIR

to the decision of European Court of Human Rights in the case of Wassili Kononow

With large satisfaction the FIR took knowledge of the judgement of the European Court of Justice in the case Latvian partisans of the Wassili Kononow at the end of July 2008. His condemnation in the year 2004 in Riga because of alleged war crimes 1944 was waived and awarded to him a compensation for suffered injustice.

to the judgement of the Italian Court of Justice to Nazi-forced labourers

The International federation of the Resistance fighters (FIR) – Association of anti-fascists, the international umbrella organization of federations of former resistance fighters, partisans, deported and interned and victims of the fascist crimes and anti-fascists of today's generations welcomes expressly the recent decision of the highest Italian of Court of Justice over the legal standard of the claims for damages of Nazi-forced labourers.

Buchenwald Gedenkfeier 2008

Internationales Jugendtreffen war großartiger Erfolg

Etwa 1000 junge Menschen aus über 20 Ländern trafen sich anlässlich des 63. Jahrestages der Selbstbefreiung des KZ Buchenwald in Weimar.

Unter dem Motto "Europäische Jugend auf den Gleisen der Demokratie und der Freiheit" folgten sie dem Ruf des "Institute des Véterans" (Belgien) und der FIR zu einem internationalen Treffen mit Veteranen des antifaschistischen Kampfes.

Jugend Europas auf den Gleisen der Demokratie und der Freiheit

Unter dieser Losung werden über 1000 junge Leute zu einem Internationalen Jugendtreffen in der KZ Gedenkstätte Buchenwald vom 10. bis 14. April 2008 erwartet. Auf Einladung des belgischen "Institut des Véterans" und der Internationalen Föderation der Widerstandskämpfer (FIR) – Bund der Antifaschisten haben sich Delegationen aus Belgien und Israel, aus Russland und Portugal, aus Dänemark und Ungarn zu diesem Treffen in Weimar angemeldet.

FIR: Indignation and disappointment about decision of the German Federal Constitutional Court

The "International Federation of Resistance Fighters" (FIR) reacted with indignation and disappointment to the judgement of the German Federal Constitutional Court to reject the process request of relatives of the victims of the SS massacre of Distimo / Greece.

Liberation Day 2005

On May 9th, 2005 the President of the FIR, Michel Vanderborght, the Vice-President of the FIR, Vilmos Hanti, and the General Secretary of the FIR, Dr. Ulrich Schneider, met the General Secretary of the UN, Kofi Annan, in Moskow.
